Dorcas coppers are small butterflies that frequent fens where shrubby cinquefoil is present. This particular male was perched on a blade of grass that was lit by the early morning sun. One of the hazards of nature photography in this area are numerous eastern massasauga rattlesnakes which can provide or some hair-raising adventures.
