Description
House finches were originally found in the American Southwest and were intentionally released by cage bid fanciers in the 1940's. Although colorful and common around human dwellings, they have displaced purple finches in the Northern United States and Canada. This male is exhibiting the streaked sides and strawberry red coloration of its breeding plumage.
