Description
I never believed that I would ever see an ivory gull during my life. One of the "Holy Grail" species of birding, this species lives in the Bering Sea living off of scraps from polar bear kills, carrion, and fish. Occasionally, a few wander down into the United States during the Winter months. I learned that this individual was found along the Flint River in Flint, Michigan and was only about 30 feet away from me when photographed.
