Description
The flowers of wild columbine show up in late May to early June in the Midwest. The red color attracts its pollinator, the ruby-throated hummingbird. This gem was photographed on June 4 before the rains started. The flowers are covered in sticky trichomes which snare spiderwebs and cottonwood seeds.
