These small butterflies resemble the common pearl crescent, but are darker and have a strongly patterned hindwing. I was able to photograph this small butterfly in a tamarack swamp in Southern Michigan.
Jim Zablotny is a natural historian, entomologist, and nature photographer from Fenton, Michigan. His present work emphasizes color, detail, and bold composition of natural subjects.
