Description
Eastern phoebes are small drab colored flycatchers that return North early in the spring. I first hear the "phoebe" call the first week in March which indicates that breeding birds have returned from their overwintering localities. While away on our vacation, a pair of phoebes built their nest right above our backdoor below the deck. This is one of the parent birds preparing to fly off on a feeding run.
