Ohio spiderwort plants are fairly common in species rich grasslands in the Midwest. The flower color ranges from pale to dark violet blue. I photographed this inflorescence with a 600 mm lens during a bird photography trip. The birds were not cooperative, but the long lens fuzzed out the surrounding vegetation to isolate the flowers from the background.
