Yellow jackets were abundant last year and were one reason why one of my beehives failed. Yellow jackets rob out vulnerable beehives after the honey harvest. This one lost one of her antennae possibly in a raid on a beehive.

Jim Zablotny is a natural historian, entomologist, and nature photographer from Fenton, Michigan. His present work emphasizes color, detail, and bold composition of natural subjects.
